Platform and product development

From first line of code to launch: architecture, backend, web and mobile apps, and the cloud they run on.

Quoted as a fixed price after the intro call.

Signs you need this

  • You have a validated idea and need a senior engineer to build version one properly.
  • You’re adding a mobile app or web platform to an existing business.
  • Your team needs a senior engineer to take on the hardest part of a build.

What I do

  • Backends and APIs

C# and .NET, Node.js, or PHP services, designed to grow with you rather than be replaced after launch.

  • Web apps

React and Next.js front ends in TypeScript that are fast, accessible, search-friendly, and easy for the next developer to work on. I also migrate existing React apps to Next.js for speed and search visibility, as I did for Atmosfy’s website and this one.

  • Mobile apps

React Native apps for iOS and Android from one codebase, sharing components with the web where it makes sense.

  • Cloud and data

AWS or Azure infrastructure, SQL Server and Elasticsearch, with automated deployment from day one.

From my work

  • Built from the first line of code

Atmosfy’s backend and AWS architecture, evolved from a greenfield build into the foundation for a global discovery platform.

  • 4.8from 18K reviews

Atmosfy’s App Store rating for the React Native apps I built.

  • 18 monthsto market

Drove the architecture of an HR and payroll company’s digital handbook product from design to launch.

How it works

Fixed quote per project

Every build is different, so I scope it with you first and give you a fixed quote for that scope. No open-ended hourly billing.

Either a defined project with a clear scope, or a set number of hours each week. Most building happens in evenings and on weekends, with a scheduled check-in or two each week. Either way you see working software early and often, and you own everything I build, with documentation so your team can take it forward.

Common questions

What does a build cost?

It depends on scope. After the intro call I’ll send a fixed quote for a clearly defined first version, so you know the cost before any work starts.

Do you build the whole thing yourself?

For early products, often yes. For larger builds I can lead a small team, or work alongside yours on the hardest parts.

Who owns the code?

You do, from the first commit. It lives in your repositories and your cloud accounts.

What happens after launch?

I can stay on for support and new features, or hand off to your team with documentation and a walkthrough.

When are you available?

Phoenix Powered is my independent practice, so I do most hands-on work in evenings and on weekends and schedule calls during the business day, usually one or two a week. That works well for building, reviews, and advisory work. If you need someone in meetings all day, I’ll say so on the intro call rather than overpromise.

Other ways I can help

  • Fractional CTO or tech lead

Roadmap, architecture, hiring plans, and investor conversations, for a set number of hours each week. I mentor as I go, so your team keeps improving after I step back.

  • Rescue and repair

For MVPs that stalled and platforms that keep breaking. I find what’s wrong and fix it, like an outreach flaw I found and fixed in a week that was leaking revenue.

  • Architecture and security reviews

A focused look at your architecture, code, and security, with a prioritized list of what to fix and why.

  • Automation and systems integration

Connect the tools your business runs on and automate the manual work between them, from API integrations to scheduled data exports.

  • Stubborn bug fixes

The bug that keeps coming back, or that nobody can reproduce. I track it to the root cause, and you only pay for the time I use.
