Architecture and security reviews
An independent look at your system from someone with no stake in how it was built, with a written list of what to fix, in order.
Reviews start at $3,500.
Signs you need this
- You’re about to raise, and investors will want technical due diligence.
- You’re planning a big launch or expecting a jump in users.
- You’ve inherited a codebase and need to know what you’re working with.
- You’re considering a rewrite and want a second opinion first.
- Something went wrong with security and you want to know what else might.
What I do
Architecture and data
How the system is structured, how data flows and is stored, and where it will strain as you grow.
Code quality
Readability, test coverage, and the parts of the codebase that slow your team down most.
Security
Secrets handling, authentication, access control, and how customer data is protected.
Infrastructure and cost
Cloud setup, deployment pipeline, monitoring, and where money is being spent without a return.
What you get
- A written report with findings ranked by risk and effort to fix
- A walkthrough call to go through the findings with you and your team
- Optional hands-on help fixing the most important items
From my work
Security infrastructure rebuilt
Rebuilt a home insurance platform’s security infrastructure, moving secrets out of code into cryptographic storage.
AWS architecture designed
Designed Atmosfy’s AWS architecture from scratch and evolved it into the foundation for a global platform spanning 20,000 cities across 150 countries.
2 yearsenterprise consulting
Senior consultant at Wintellect, advising enterprise clients on architecture and development practices.
How it works
From $3,500
Fixed scope, agreed before we start. Includes the written report and a walkthrough call. Larger systems are quoted after the intro call.
A review is a fixed-scope project. We agree on what’s in scope on the intro call, I get read access to the code and infrastructure, and you get the written report and a walkthrough at the end.
Common questions
Should I get a review or a rescue assessment?
If something is actively broken, costing you users or money, start with a rescue assessment ($2,500). It’s narrower and faster and ends with a repair plan. If the system works and you want an independent check before growth, a raise, or a rewrite, a review is the better fit.
How long does a review take?
It depends on the size of the system and what’s in scope. I’ll give you a clear scope, price, and timeline before we start.
Do you need access to production data?
Usually not. Read access to the code, infrastructure configuration, and deployment setup covers most reviews.
Will you fix what you find?
If you’d like. Some teams take the report and run with it; others have me fix the top items or stay on for a rescue.
When are you available?
Phoenix Powered is my independent practice, so I do most hands-on work in evenings and on weekends and schedule calls during the business day, usually one or two a week. That works well for building, reviews, and advisory work. If you need someone in meetings all day, I’ll say so on the intro call rather than overpromise.
Other ways I can help
- Fractional CTO or tech lead
Roadmap, architecture, hiring plans, and investor conversations, for a set number of hours each week. I mentor as I go, so your team keeps improving after I step back.
- Rescue and repair
For MVPs that stalled and platforms that keep breaking. I find what’s wrong and fix it, like an outreach flaw I found and fixed in a week that was leaking revenue.
- Build your platform
From the first line of code to launch: architecture, backend, web and mobile apps, and the cloud they run on. It’s what I did for Atmosfy.
- Automation and systems integration
Connect the tools your business runs on and automate the manual work between them, from API integrations to scheduled data exports.
- Stubborn bug fixes
The bug that keeps coming back, or that nobody can reproduce. I track it to the root cause, and you only pay for the time I use.
